MATCH PREVIEW | Rhinos Women take on Leopards in Friday night double bill

With the halfway mark of the Betfred Women's Super League approaching, Leeds Rhinos Women can keep up their winning form and push for a top-four spot when they meet Leigh Leopards at AMT Headingley in the first game of Friday's double header, kick off 5.15pm.
A win over Barrow last time out moved Lois Forsell's side above the Leopards as they now look to close in on last year's Grand Final winners York Valkyrie. The Leopards are looking to get back to winning ways themselves, having dropped down the table with back-to-back losses in recent games.
Here's your match preview:
Opposition
Even though AMT Headingley feels a familiar place for the Leopards who have played the Rhinos twice at the stadium in the Betfred Challenge Cup, Friday's game is actually the first official league meeting between Leigh and Leeds in the history of the Betfred Women's Super League.
The Leopards were the standout side in 2024 as they earned promotion out of the Championship with a clean record of 17 wins from 17 games. Featherstone put up a stern challenge in the promotion Play Off match with a place in the Super League on the line, but tries from Gabi Leigh, Hattie Dogus, Storm Cobain, Becky Greenfield, Toryn Blackwood and two from Mollie Young ensured Kieron Purtill's side made the step into the top tier of the UK Women's competition for the first time in their history.
Despite a tough Cup campaign in which they lost out to the Rhinos in round one of the Group Stages and York Valkyrie in the quarter finals, the Leopards made sure they introduced themselves to the Super League competition by winning their first games to sit second in the table by the end of May. A hat trick from Dogus helped see off Barrow Raiders in round one, before current top try scorer Katie Howard led the way in a 42-6 triumph over Warrington, but a tough schedule has seen them fall down the league standings. Losses to Huddersfield, Wigan and York have seen Leigh only score 12 points overall and concede 118 - 60 of which came at the hands of the Warriors- but Friday afternoon is a chance for the club to bounce back against the Rhinos.
The side is currently on a run of five straight away games as they head to York, St Helens and Barrow in the next three games. Then it is back to the Leigh Sports Village for Wigan, Leeds and Huddersfield to visit before they close out the season with games against the Wolves and Saints.
